I love to sew but I was increasingly disappointed in it because things did not fit properly. With a 2 size difference between top and bottom, I felt frustrated and unsatisfied with clothing that I could either sew or buy. In 2016, I met Janice by signing up for her workshop, Fit for Real People. What a change! I started to learn about relationships between parts of my body and how patterns were designed to fit. The real revelation was how to fit my back and shoulders and how those adjustments affected my front adjustments. Rather than trying to make just a enormous FBA that never quite did the job, I now know how to how to fit my upper and lower body properly. It’s been a long journey but I adore the results: sewing with a good expectation of fit. Even buying off the rack is easier because I can spot the problem that make me unhappy with a garment’s fit. I now sew the majority of my garments because I cannot buy this fit! Love it and my new clothes.

Need some additional fitting help? This workshop is designed as a follow-up once you have completed a fit workshop (Fit Fashion Patterns, Fit and Sew Basic Pant,, or Fit and Sew Knits). Drop by the studio and fit as many patterns as you can.

I have always struggled with purchasing clothing that fits and have wanted to make clothing that fits. After taking several workshops with Janice, I have learned how to adjust patterns to my body and not just follow generic instructions. The hands on guidance she provides is invaluable. Janice is very knowledgeable about the fit process and is able to find solutions to even the most complicated adjustments and then give hands-on guidance on how to make those adjustments. I have walked away with more confidence and skills that I will use in every project going forward. I am looking forward to making more garments that I can actually wear with confidence.
